Beach Day

Today was Beach Day and what an awesome day we had! There were so many beach and sea related experiences on offer and we were having a blast all dressed up in our beach gear for the day.

The children engaged in some beach themed messy play – sand alongside goop, which created an amazing (and really different, gritty texture) when we manipulated the two together. We read some beach themed stories, had a great time splashing in the water play with the sea creatures, made sandcastles in the sandpit and decorated them with shells (thrilling in the different sand textures), rolled and chased the blow up beach balls around the playground, as well as practising our balancing skills on the surf boards and boogie boards. We did painting with thongs, painted and stamped white beach towels to fill them with colour, played some games of beach volleyball, learnt about sun and beach safety.

For lunch we were so super lucky to have fish and chips!!! We turned lunch into a picnic just like we would at the beach and sat around picnic mats to eat our delicious fish and chips with all our friends and teachers.  After lunch the centre gathered together for lots of group photos some more fun with the huge beach ball!
